With Hrmony Gifts, you can give your employees digital vouchers for special occasions – easily via the Admin Portal, fully digital, and tax-advantaged. This article explains how the product works, what applies tax-wise, and how to trigger a gift.
What is Hrmony Gifts?
Hrmony Gifts is a product on the Hrmony Multi-Benefit platform that enables you as an employer to give employees occasion-based digital vouchers.
You can choose:
- You select the voucher – you choose a voucher from the available partner assortment, and your employees receive it directly.
- Your employees choose themselves – you provide a credit, and your employees independently select their desired voucher from the entire assortment. A service fee applies for this.
The management and triggering runs completely through the Hrmony Admin Portal.
Tax classification
⚠️ Note: Hrmony provides a technical tool – not tax advice. The tax classification in individual cases is your responsibility as an employer. In case of doubt, consult your tax advisor.
Hrmony Gifts is designed for use within the scope of tax-advantaged tokens of appreciation for special personal occasions (see R 19.6 LStR).
What this specifically means:
- Gifts for personal occasions (e.g., birthday, wedding, birth of a child) can be granted tax-free up to 60 euros gross.
- There must be a specific personal occasion – no occasion, no tax benefit.
- The decision whether an occasion exists and whether the exemption limit is observed lies exclusively with the employer.
- The gift should be in temporal connection with the occasion.
What counts as a special occasion?
Particularly personal events of employees or their relatives are considered as occasions, e.g.:
- Birthday
- Wedding / registered partnership
- Birth / adoption of a child
- Anniversary in the company
- Promotion
- Illness / recovery
The selectable occasions in the Admin Portal serve as guidance – they do not replace a tax review in individual cases.
